Exploring Cities in the Right Pair of Shoes* | QueenBeady

May 15, 2016

DANIEL FOOTWEAR AND JONES THE BOOTMAKER

If you are anything like me, I need to have comfortable feet. They are the part of my body that keeps me going on long, busy days and they needed to be treated with the care & attention they deserve, so when I’m travelling to new city destinations I know my feet are gonna take a pounding. Hashtag sorry feet. So it’s only right that they are treated to the comfiest pairs of shoes to make sure that I can cope with the long days. I never want to be that person that moans ‘cos they’ve got blisters and they wanna go back to the hotel. Na-Ah! So I’ve done a little round-up to help you on your way to exploring cities in the right pair of shoes…

These shoes can be bought from Daniel Footwear or Jones the Bootmaker. They are both trusted, strong and well-known shoemakers and offer a huge selection of shoes and boots that they’d probably keep you in sharp supply for the rest of your life. Soz’ bank account.

Unfortunately I suffer from dropping in-steps, which I have regularly spoken about here on this little corner of the world wide web. What that means is that the arch in my foot is very high and if I don’t wear the right or supportive kinda shoes (hey there Birkenstocks making me look like a hippy Geography teacher, I see you) my souls start to drop which can leave me in excessive amounts of pain. Not cool.

You’ll see the majority of the shoes I have picked not just for their “flatness” but also ones that give the middle of my feet great support, too. Whilst some of these options are not considered very girly, I am never without a pair of trainers on my holiday so these navy ones would be dreamy and perfect for teaming up with a pair of cut off jeans or denim skirt, they just had to be included in a round up. They are just so easy, plus I’m such an accident prone so I’d be less likely to trip up and stub my poor little toes too. ‘Cos that’s just the kinda gal I am. #AwkwardTurtle.

When trudging the Champs Alysees to pounding the pavements in Leidesplien, Amsterdam a trusty pair of Chelsea boots can do no harm either. Whilst it’s not spectacularly the weather for them, in the winter months these are a go-to pair of shoes that I am rarely seen without. Find a well made pair and you are in it for the long run, and they’ll never let you down. Kinda like my dog. Or pizza. Pizza never lets you down.

Of course in the evenings when we head to dinner, I want a classy pair of shoes that look fashionable but aren’t too big to pack, so a cute pair of loafers of some delicate sandals can really give your feet a break from a pair of trainers and add that touch of elegance you might need for a night out eating and drinking the local flavours to your hearts content.

What kind of shoes do you pack when travelling to a busy city? Are you a trainer girl or opt for a pretty sandal? I’d love to know!
