I’m one of those people that groans a little bit when Autumn / Winter comes around. I know, crucify me now. I just hate the fact that we are soon going to be plunged in to darkness. You know the score, waking up and going to work in the dark, oh and then coming back home in the pitch blackness of night. I’m a girl that needs my sunshine & vitamin D (or whatever it is that the sun gives you.) However, I can’t deny that I do love the Autumn wardrobes, the snuggly days on the sofa with hot cocoa watching endless Netflix series without fear of feeling like you should really get outside and enjoy the weather, oh and did I mention I love fireworks?

So it’s not all doom and gloom really. But, before we say goodbye to Summer I have my holiday to Caribbean to look forward to so I can’t just say goodbye to frayed hem shorts, cute Summer dresses or the sunglasses just yet. I’ve slowly been trying to incorporate some AW16 pieces in to my wardrobe so I’m not too shocked when the mini Indian Summer heatwaves are quickly replaced with torrential downpours. Fat Face sent me another box of wonderful goodies for the Washed In Happiness campaign, I was involved with the Summer campaign earlier on this year but there’s a certain kind of cosiness about this new collection.

I could not be more in love with this FatFace coat. I mean, look at it. Go on, take a long hard look at it. Isn’t it beautiful? I could not think of a more substantial, comfy coat to take me in to the cooler months and my goodness does it keep you snug. Plus, I love the super cool 70’s vibe it has about it. Practical and stylish. Two words that are hardly ever uttered synonymously. The times I have been touched on the arm or shoulder to say “I really love your coat!” could not be counted on my two hands & I’ve only worn it about 3 times. To finish the look I paired it with the long sleeved white top that makes layering up so easy, some black skinnies and finally my Chelsea boots. I like to think I’m on to a winning formula for getting my Autumn / Winter style covered.

Working with Alex on these shots was the perfect pairing too, he really has the eye for a good photo. No sooner had I started to embrace the Autumn, I had to pack a whole suitcase filled with bikinis, beach towels and of course, my inflatable doughnut! My brain is so confused. So I hope when I return my Caribbean tan will give me a little glow to get me through the cooler months.

What staples are you wearing this AW16?
