I love fashion. I love travel. So why not put the two loves of my life (sorry hubby) in one post. Some of you who follow my blog or on social media will know that I just went on an amazing trip to Nice, in part I was working with University Rooms but I got to enjoy the time I was there as though it was a holiday with Mr C and to say it was blissful would be an understatement. With a holiday to somewhere as chic as the South of France, required a little bit of holiday wardrobe prep before we stepped off the plane in sunnier climes. #SozBankBalance. Without breaking the bank too much, I managed to pick up some amazing buys in the summer sales and I just had to show you my Nice outfit diary!
The day we travelled, I stupidly wore my fave pair of jeans. When we stepped out of the airport and had to take a 30 minute detour to our apartment, you could say I was a little sweaty in the 30 degree heat. Once we arrived where we were staying it was a quick change in my staple denim skirt and out for a few Aperol Spritz’ to get us in the holiday mood.
You can always rely on a nice, thin, maxi dress for a summer’s evening. We hadn’t quite anticipated just how hot it was going to be in Nice, so this lightweight dress from House of Fraser was a welcome respite in the evening humidity. Our first night was spent in the Old Town, eating pizza and pasta and ended with wandering around the late night market stalls. It was super pretty and buzzing with life late in to the night.
This has to be one of my favourite day time looks. I wore this little stripy, off the shoulder number on our boat trip and it was great as I didn’t get any tan lines where straps had been. I gave myself a little, mini round of applause for being so clever when I chose to wear that dress in the morning. I have had so many lovely comments on this dress and I felt so summery in it. The perfect kinda dress for swanning around the South of France, dontcha think?

I wore this outfit when we were swapping between our two accommodations on the Sunday. It was a good half an hour walk between the two so I was really quite glad that I wore these shorts for the walk (no chafing. YES!) I bought these shorts with a voucher I had gotten for Christmas and as soon as my eyes fell on them I knew I had to have them. I paired it with a simple, frilled hem top (tucked in) and my comfy “converse” style sneakers. A real easy outfit that kept me cool and my little burnt shoulders from getting even more red (SPF50 up guys!)

Well, this dress. This dress gained a lorra’ lorra’ love on instagram. I cannot tell you how sassy I actually felt in this dress, it was off the scale. I am absolutely, 100% loving the off the shoulder styles at the moment (as you probs already know!) and this one did not fail to impress. It hung perfectly. There was none of the pulling the sleeves down to make it sit right with awakward fiddling between each forkful of food. It just hung, perfectly (ya’know how I said in the first sentence.) The look was finished with my trusty tie up flatforms from Miss Selfridge which are quite frankly, my number 1 fave pair of shoes right about now. So sue me.

Waaa. The H&M site is down and I really wanted to show you the link to this dress (and the off the shoulder striped one further up above) but these little beauties were around £5.99 – £7.99 so real good bargains for the holiday wardrobe. On the morning we left I was refusing to believe we were going to back home to rainy England so wore this dress with my New Look sneakers for the journey back to the airport. Sad times that morning. Sad times.
