Party season is upon us. Office Christmas parties, family get together’s and everything in between there has to be an outfit for every occasion (or is that just me? Whoops!) I don’t know about you but at this time of year I need to be prepared. I always want a new dress for each event because I love shopping (and it gives me a little thrill each time) but when it’s coming up to Christmas, each pay packet is spent on presents for others (because I’m just a nice kinda gal) you can’t possibly have everything. If you’re anything like me though, you will spend hours a day a week flicking through online shopping apps to ease the shopping blues.

I tried and tried this year to not succumb to the Black Friday deals, but something had to give and I ended up spending copious amounts of time virtually window shopping. As much as I love going shopping for new clothes, trying things on and seeing things in the flesh there is nothing quite like shopping from the comfort of your own home, in your pj’s and creating a little wish list over on ASOS each night every once in a while. Contact Numbers UK tasked me with deciding which I preferred. It’s the ultimate Online Shopping VS. High Street Shopping smack down.

Seriously though, who can be bothered to traipse around the shops at this time of year to find the perfect party dress? It has it’s plusses and minuses, there’s nothing like trying on each dress you choose to really get a feel for the sizes but that means heading to each individual store and trying to shimmy your way out of a too-tight, sequinned body con in a claustrophobic changing room with no-one to help you when you get stuck. There is nothing more frightening on this earth than getting an item of clothing halfway over your body and not being able to wriggle out of it anymore. TRULY PETRIFYING.

£9.95 next day delivery with ASOS and free returns. I mean come on guys. That’s the ultimate shopping pleasure, being able to order as many sizes and styles you can find, delivered to your front door the next working day. And all safe in the knowledge that you’ll return about 90% of all items back on free returns with a quick and speedy refund. HALLELUJAH FOR ASOS PREMIER!

Okay, okay I agree, at this time of year when you head in to town to go shopping, you’ll probably bump in to a Christmas Market or Stalls at some point which makes it pretty unreasonable for you to not grab a mug of mulled wine whilst you are shopping. It really does help getting in the festive spirit being able to see all the twinkly Christmas lights and smells of cinnamon and roasting chestnuts lingering in the air.

It’s so bloody cold. But then it’s too bloody hot. Walking in and out of stores, getting changed in and out of clothes, getting me all hot and flustered. But also having to throw on a coat before you leave so you are sweltering inside but freezing when you leave. My body cannot cope with this. Period.

Sometimes I can be a little hermit, online shopping is far too easy these days and makes it all the more appealing that I don’t have get bumped in to, pushed and shoved around when I head in to Leeds or York. There is nothing worse. However, shopping can be turned in to a bit of social outing for you and friends. Second opinions always help and the idea of cheeky liquid lunch in between is always very appealing.

There’s so many pros and cons to both. I think to get in the festive spirit shopping on the high street definitely wins that draw, but, if like me you like the comfort of your own home and the ease of being able to do it all under your own roof is pretty great too. I really can’t make my mind up because both include shopping (whichever way you look at it) and I love to shop.

Which do you prefer?
