HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! HAPY SINGLETON AWARENESS DAY! Or whatever you bleeding well like to call it day!
I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of Valentines Day as I have got older (partly as the other half tends be unromantic at the best of times!) but I do love to see everyone enjoy the spirit whether they loved up or a singleton.
I remember on the morning of V DAY every year my lovely mother would tell my sister & I there was a card for us both and it would always have a big resounding “?” on it. Over the years I became privy to her ways & gathered it was her but it was always an exciting morning for us. Even my little sister still gets a cheeky card & present (this year it was no less than Pug with a Heart pillow – JEALOUS!) I think I might need to move back home to get all these quirks as the husband to be still forgets!
So my top tips for Valentines Day as are as follows:-
•Even if you hate the day itself try not to ruin the fun for others (you end up looking like a Scrooge & a bitter one at that!)
•If you are a singleton appreciate your friends & family around you. Get yourself a pamper kit & have a fab night in without the expense of a boozy night on the tiles or cook your parents a home made meal & show them your appreciation!
•Get yourself a bottle of prosecco & get merry with your other half. Valentines day is not just about being mushy gushy, it’s also about the “early night” – who needs a swanky restaurant for a good night?
So go on ladies & gentleman, enjoy this overly charged, marketing plot but put your own spin on it. Make it work for you & not just the big companies raking it in!
