Mr C & I had the pleasure of being invited to stay at Ox Pasture Hall recently. On the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park & only 3 miles away from the seaside town of Scarborough it’s a perfect spot to keep everyone entertained.

As you drive through the winding tree’s and forests of North Yorkshire Moors National Park it’s reminiscent of the leafy East Coast of America. What I loved about pulling up to the hotel was that it was very unassuming. No big fancy manor house, just a beautiful limestone building. You just knew it was all about the little details, the details that matter.

Check in was swift and after being asked if we needed porterage we were shown our way to our room. By coincidence we were placed in a suite 30, aptly named Wetherby. Our home town. The room spanned out with a separate bedroom, living room and bathroom. There was enough space to swing a cow in it, let alone a cat! In fact, we even joked that it was bigger than our own house.

After we settled down in to our room, we had had a long day on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which you can read about here, so we were ready for a coffee and a little sit down before we went to dinner which you can read about in my next post! So after pouring ourselves a cup of hot coffee in the room we idly watched the day go by and the views did not disappoint from any window with the sounds of the TV in the background.

At around 7pm we started to get ready to go down to dinner. Now dinner does require a completely separate post because it really was a banquet, all five courses of it, but I can assure you that we were looked after impeccably well.

We pretty much retired to our bedroom straight after the meal, we were weary after an early start and the bar was taken up by a large party too. So we headed to bed with two bottles of water in tow and we got tucked up in possibly one of the most comfiest beds I have stayed in.

In the morning we woke up bright & breezy and headed down for breakfast before we started the journey back home. And, what a hearty breakfast it was! A full English cooked to perfection, the only fault was that the eggs could have been poached a little longer but otherwise it was truly scrumptious.

After having a little conversation with the receptionist as we left I offered my thoughts on this beautiful hotel. All it is missing is a spa. If it did have the provision of a spa I feel that people would flock here in droves, although I’m not sure I am ready to share this little gem with others just yet! However, it’s the most perfect setting for a relaxing weekend & if you have a spare weekend to indulge a little you really should visit.

Have you been to Ox Pasture Hall? Or do you have a favourite hotel you like to visit? I’d love to hear from you.
