Mindfulness Monday #3 | QueenBeady

January 25, 2016

Tea7

I’ll be honest, this week has been pretty boring so I’ll try make this post as best as I possibly can. It’s also been pretty painful too, on Friday I opened my mouth to take a nibble on some crackers and my jaw went in to complete spasm mode. My left jaw swelled up so much so that I could easily compare myself to Quagmire from Family Guy. It worsened every time I ate so it was just soup for me. Sometimes life really is just “ordinary” and whilst I’d love to say I hate it, sometimes it’s necessary to just have a rather dull week. That is life as working adult, isn’t it? So without me sounding too much of a “Neggy Nelly” in what’s meant to be an uplifting post I’ll get straight too it. So let’s get in to part 3 of “Mindfulness Monday” shall we?

1. I started a Chemical Diet
I am no way endorsing that this should be done by everyone or that it’s the only way out, but truth be told I haven’t been happy with the way I look or seem to be growing constantly despite trying to eat healthily and exercise. It isn’t cutting it and my body is very close to topping the scales and teetering from normal to obese with my BMI. I’m not fat, by no means, but I carry a lot of extra “podge” that my body really shouldn’t have according to the BMI chart. I got a few tweets expressing their concern over twitter which I am thankful for, however, this diet is all about cutting out the processed shit and filling yourself up on quantities of fresh fruit, veg and meats so it’s not like I’m starving myself. With day 1 down of course I’m a little hungry but that’s because I have been eating excessively and I only have myself to blame. I hope I see a little shift in weight, we will see come Saturday.

2. I’m channeling my anger
This sounds really crazy, but I can assure you I’m not screaming Banshee or anything but I find myself getting stressed and real angry about the tiniest situations (which did lead me to writing this type of post once a week.) You see, I don’t suffer fools gladly and I can spot a class A knobhead as soon as I meet them. This week I’ve tried to “let go” as it were. I can’t change people but I can certainly change my attitudes towards someone, even if they are being a total bell-end. Kill them with kindness and all that.

3. We watched Ride Along
And it was H I L A R I O U S. I mean Kevin Hart is just one of the funniest men in film & TV. It really reminded me of the Rush Hour trilogiy (which is also one of my absolute faves.) We shut the curtains and got laid out on the sofa and watched it on Sunday afternoon and it was bliss. I laughed and laughed, so hard. Sometimes laughter is the best therapy.

4. Every cloud has a silver lining
And it comes in the form of my husband. I mentioned my woes of a funny, swelled up, hard jaw on Friday/Saturday which caused me immense pain and an emergency doctors appointment (which is something I never ever do) so my husband was an absolute doll and brought me ice-cream both days. It was about the only thing my poor mouth could handle (except for soup) he was an absolute saint as I cried in my hot water bottle that he kept filling for me.

5. The nights are getting lighter
Okay, well, not a huge amount but I noted that it was around 5pm before it was fully dark. That means that in a couple of weeks time we will be leaving work not in the dark. I can’t tell you how happy that makes me feel. I know my moods change dramatically through the winter and I discussed with my doctor the other day about Seasonal Affective Disorder. Keeping a mental note of when it’s getting lighter is something that keeps my spirits up and really hopeful that spring is just around the corner.

6. Talking of Spring…
I know it’s only January but the tree in our garden is already budding ready for blossom. If that isn’t something to get ridiculously excited about then I don’t know what is?

7. I opened up
I mentioned earlier about not suffering fools gladly. I guess it’s ‘cos I got burned by my own sperm donor of a supposed father years ago. I don’t think it’s something I’m fully ready to share as a post on here, but finally acknowledging that a lot of my anger and lack of ability to trust people comes from that. I’m thinking of writing something private for myself to release all this negativity that stems from it, it might be therapeutic, even if it is a bunch of swear words written down. I think it’ll be good for me.

8. Opportunity Knocks
I’ve noticed an uptake of PRs and brands getting in touch with me this week. It’s always so nice to get emails landing in your inbox with people wanting to collaborate with little old me and my blog. I don’t know if I put it down to starting up a LinkedIn account for my blog which I mentioned in my last post but I’m hoping that I’m doing something right?

9. Fresh Tulips
I’ve had a vase full of white tulips, some of my favourite flowers, blooming for the last week or so. They are doing well and it’s so nice to have them in the house at this time of year. There’s nothing quite like fresh flowers to spruce up the house.

What have you enjoyed this week? Let me hear your good news so we can virtually celebrate or are you just as excited for Spring as I am? Let’s start a countdown together!
