I think everyone has their little passions and little secret obsessions. For some girls its makeup, for some it’s shopping; well for those are festivals. I don’t think there is anything as liberating as being completely free of prejudice and being able to dress and accessorize yourself however it comes naturally to you. The crowds and music are just mesmerizing, and we somehow all go back to that hippie era where all that was important was peace, love and harmony, and I think that is perfectly depicted in the colourful, flowery and magical fashion style that erupts during festival season.

At festival season, the look is so elaborate and yet it feels so thought out and put together. For me it’s always simplicity in the clothing and elaborate accessories that make the trick. Denim short are my favourite because they go with absolutely everything, and look laid-back at the same time. You could even wear a cute chiffon boho dress… For me the main thing is that whatever I am wearing has to be comfortable and simple to wear, and not work against me while im raving to my favourite artists.

Tops are where I become creative with it. You can literally do anything! Graphic tees, crop tops, crochet tops, flowy beach caftans! You name it, I have it, and it’s been my absolute go to when it comes to preparing my backpack for the adventure. One useful thing is to always carry a swimsuit with you… Always. You never know if you’re going to have a beach nearby… And by the way, swimsuit tops are so much more comfortable to wear than a bra, and they’re double the use. My advice is to always be creative with this… Fringe, beads, feathers – it’s all something you want.

And one small DIY I have for you is to use your colourful scarfs instead of buying cardigans and ponchos. Take a rectangle shaped scarf and tie its ends together. Measure out the most middle part and pin and tie it to the previous know and voilà, a colourful, DIY, temporary west to accessorize your outfit.

Speaking of accessories, girl I got you covered. My advice – More is more! Don’t be shy, go crazy with it! Basically, you need your sunnies, a cross body bag or a small backpack, tons of jewellery and body art. For me there is no festival without those staples! Gold, silver, cuffs, rings, and lots and lots of midi rings, body chains and neon stripes on your body. You really really can’t go wrong.

And now my favourite part – the hair. I have long semi-curly hair and my favourite things to DIY are flower crowns and other types of accessories for the hair. These are super affordable to make and look absolutely stunning on every girl, long or short-haired. Depending on what you want to make, you’re going to need floral wire, a glue gun, flowers of your choice, feathers, leather cord, chains, beads, pendants and other details. I bet you have most of these at home already, so get creative with it and start making your custom unique hair details.

For me, the point of festivals is to let loose in every sense. Dance your heart away, march to the beat of your own drum, dress up, accessories, meet new people, fall in love… It’s all a part of that magical feeling!
