It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas | QueenBeady

Slippers Wyndors

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Clayton residence. This Sunday after a very busy (and slightly hungover) weekend we decided it was time to get the Christmas tree out of the attic and put it up. I have to admit despite various “Christmas” outings I still haven’t felt in the mood. But, Sunday was the day to do it. I decided to pull myself together, so I put on these gorgeous slippers from Wynsor Shoes, put the kettle on and got the decs out to have a super festive afternoon.

Decorating the Tree

I’ve not been feeling particularly Christmassy yet. I’m unsure why, but possibly coupled with a hellish week (burglary and two family dogs being put to sleep) and the countdown to our next trip to Amsterdam I’m pretty drained. I genuinely thought after Mexico in September I’d feel like a new person after a week lazing in the sun but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I have found myself feeling pretty low for what seems forever because all I can think about is when I can next get a sunshine fix, and sadly, that isn’t till next March. In the meantime our long awaited trip back to Amsterdam has kept me ticking over and I can’t wait to be back in our favourite European city again.

I thought I had got so in to the Black Friday sales trying to find amazing, extravagant gifts for my family, that my Christmas Grinch phase would disappear. The most exciting it got was some perfume that was half price. The Best Daughter Award does not go to me at all. It eased it a little but I still just didn’t feel quite the excitement as I used to.

Christmas Tree Decorations

Having finally erected our Christmas tree I can safely say that some of the Christmas cheer has finally worked it’s way in to my bones. I love getting cosied down, a cute and comfy outfit with the perfect pair of slippers, endless hot chocolates and Michael Buble on repeat it’s hard not to get in to the festive spirit, although Skye didn’t seem to be that bothered. She decided that her festive Christmas pudding dog jumper was not very stylish and within 5 minutes that came off.

Whilst I decorated the tree in my classic white, gold and cream decs, Mr C was busy making a mammoth lasagne. We’ve been really getting in to batch cooking making life so much simpler. The last thing you want to do when you go to work in dark and come back in the pitch black abyss is to spend ages cooking food. Sunday’s have become a real homely day for us in the household too, with decorating being a top priority. In the Spring we are hoping to get the house valued and quite possibly might be putting our first home on the market.

Whilst I’ll be sad to finally leave our first home, it will be a welcome experience. Our house is quite small and we just seem to be bursting at the seams. Our home can only house a very small Christmas tree which is such a shame because if I had my way our house would be overrun with Christmas decs everywhere! I long for the dreamy little country cottage, roaring fire with the most perfect porch to hang a beautiful wreath on. I can dream, ey?

What do you do to get in the Christmas mood? What theme do you have for your Christmas tree? I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below!
