What constitutes the perfect city break outfit? To be honest, I don’t actually know. But I do know what works for me. For those who were living under a rock (because I was practically shouting from the rooftops) I was in Rome last week. Early March. We weren’t sure whether we’d really thought the dates through or not when it edged closer and closer and the weather reports kept changing every day between sunshine and rain. So what is one to pack when they are heading on a city break where the weather might be inclement?

As we were only travelling with hand luggage (aint nobody got time for paying extra for hold luggage, am I right?) we had to be super efficient with what we were going to pack. Promised with sunshine for half of the holiday and then rain and wind for the other half. Joyous. We really had to think through what we were going to take with us. So I packed, two pairs of jeans – one cropped and one full length to make sure I’d covered all angles. Ankles on show for sunshine, ankles not on show for rain. Seems a pretty reasonable betting.

The day we were promised sunshine I paired my cropped jeans with my Levis tee from ASOS (that I cannot get enough of.) I felt kinda cool for once. I think it’s the orange/red piping around the neck and sleeves that just make it ever so slightly different.

I have to say that my fave purchase of the year has to be my black “Old School” Vans back in January. I pretty much live in them and make walking long distances (19,768 steps. I shit you not) is a lot easier to do in them.

Because it was so warm, neither of us wore jackets (especially as I am prone to sweating like a pig when I’m walking all day, nice thought there, right?) But, had it been a much cooler day, I’d have worn my leather jacket that I bought from H&M in the sales this year.

So, in short, this was my perfect city break outfit. Something that was comfortable, breathable and simple.

What is your go-to city break outfit?
