In today’s post I’m referring to the small successes we are greeted with in life. Of course, big events can comes with an amazing sense of achievement but there is also something quite euphoric about the small glories we make throughout our life. For me there have been many moments like this. People could look at them and think nothing of it, “what on earth could you feel ecstatic about that for?” – you know the one’s, resigned to doom and gloom. I adore championing people when they’ve accomplished something they are particularly proud of, big or small. I also feel it should be something that others try and take on board, too. Wouldn’t the world be a nicer place if we all did this from time to time?

I recently surpassed two goals this last month, it was to reach 6000 followers on Twitter and 5000 on Instagram. These were both goals I was hoping to hit by the end of December 2016. A whole 5 months away. And I hit it. People tell you numbers aren’t everything and they aren’t but it also helps having an engaged audience (with those numbers). I adore talking to people online, I’ve always been curious about other people. Back in the day when Habbo Hotel was everything & you’d buy Habbo Credits to buy that really cool rug that was limited editon and you could chat to people via post it notes on the realms of the digital walls of the hotel. Granted, most people on their probably were middle aged and trying to get off with pubescent teens but all the same, my love for the internet grew and grew. It only became apparent that I could start and write my own website after seeing an old school friend who interned at Topshop one summer and documented it on her bright yellow blog. It was at a time when perfect photos were not the be all and end all and you could just write absolute codswallop without fear of not writing something “meaningful.”

I like how my blog has become a relatable piece of content that has a touch of editorial about it, but you can still get to the real nitty gritty of it without feeling like you are gracing the pages of Tatler or Vogue, because let’s be honest I am a million miles from that anyway. I’ve always kept a watchful eyes on my stats. I know some people preach you shouldn’t and you should write for you, but I like to think when I do write something with a message that it has been read and absorbed, even helped someone, if only slightly. Recently in the last month or so my stats are growing at a really nice, steady rate & I feel like people are engaging with my content a lot more and it feels bloody great. I don’t hide the fact that in a dream world that my blog is something I’d love to take full time, but I know I’m a far cry from that and not in a position to do so. But still, I can hope and wish and maybe one day make it a reality.

I guess with the opportunities that come my way I feel more comfortable about stating that this blog is something I feel, could go full time. With the likes of a local blogger Vicky at Honest Mum is really carving a magnificent career for herself because of the hard work and determination that doesn’t go unnoticed. Whilst I’m not treading the boards of Sky or Daytime TV just yet, I feel I’m slowly nudging forward with my small successes and campaigns I do get to work on.

With everything in life, you take the rough with the smooth. Don’t always rate your successes based on others, celebrate the small wins and keep positive. Your dreams will come true if you are happy to work hard and make it work for you. The only person that can do that is yourself. So next time you ace that presentation at your next meeting or even manage to get out of bed on a particularly rough day, give yourself a pat on the back (even buy yourself a bottle of prosecco, heck, I know I would!) Just celebrate. Celebrate, you.
