I have been looking high and low for THE denim dress that doesn’t make me look like a sack of potatoes, I’d bought one from Mango and I looked horrendous. I swiftly returned it and decided that a denim dress was not the one for me. After recently winning some vouchers at the Martin House Bloggers event I found myself trawling the New Look website (one of my favourite pastimes!) and came across this little find. It was clear that I had to have it and I was smitten as soon as I put it on. I’m pretty sure it’s spent more time out of my wardrobe since I got it than in it. I mean it’s perfect for these up-and-down weather days we have at this time of year.
I’m a huge fan of the cut of the dress too. I like how the hem scoops up, front & back, to join eitherside. It’s a real flattering shape and I think that’s why it works so much better on me than a straight cut. I know that I’ll be able to make the most of this dress both through Summer & Winter. I can pear it with some chunky tights & boots to layer up through the colder months meaning I will get a lot of wear out of this one.
As the weather has been pretty lovely this last week I decided to add my fail-safe black mules from Monsoon that I managed to pick up in the sale. They are real leather and I got them for a mere £14 – I couldn’t believe my luck. They are so comfy & pretty much go with the whole of my wardrobe making them the perfect heel for me. To cinch the waist, as this is the smallest part of my body & despite being curvy I like to define my shape from time to time, I added a skinny belt that I got from River Island many moon’s ago – the dress did come with one however I preferred a little black belt instead.
An outfit isn’t complete without the accessory and for me, it will always be my Olivia Burton watch. It’s classic and pretty much matches anything I wear. I joke that I feel slightly naked when I forget to put it on. I was very close to winning another at an event the other week, but instead I won a Betty’s hamper! I’m already eyeing up another one for the Winter season, after all it is my birthday very soon!
I’ve found New Look a fab place to shop recently, great prices and good pieces too. Have you been shopping at New Look too? Are there any pieces that I should be looking out for for the AW15 season? Let me know!
