El Dorado Seaside Suites Beach Hammock (2)

I don’t know about you, but I know when I’m planning a holiday I like to search and search for hours for our next trip. As an ex-travel agent of 7 years you’d think it’d be something I would be bored of but I’m not. Our trip to Mexico took a lot of careful planning before hitting book. We were spending a lot of money & I wanted to make sure that our only beach holiday of the year was going to be a good one. Whilst James & I are happy to head to any hotel and make the holiday the best it can possibly be, with somewhere like Mexico the choice is vast and we wanted it to be a little bit special if we were heading all that way. Eventually after weeks of deliberating we decided that the El Dorado Seaside Suites by Karisma, Mexico was the one for us. We booked through Thomson Holidays as there was a massive £400 saving & it meant we could experience the Thomson Dreamliner too.

As we flew on the Dreamliner this meant we were prepared for a really relaxing flight. The leg room is 32 inches and Thomson boasts that this is the best leg room you will find on any economy flight, beating Virgin & BA. We were so comfy and with plenty of films to watch such as Age of Adeline and more, our 4 course meal and complimentary drinks meant a ten hour flight was much more bearable!

It has been rated as one of Forbe’s most romantic hotels in the world and boasts a gourmet-inclusive experience. Both titles needed to deliver and I’m going to tell you how they did (well, completely surpassed it!) After about an hour or so transfer we arrived to be met by smiley, happy staff offering us a cool wet towel and a very potent cocktail to get checked in. We were one of the first to be checked in and we were told we had been upgraded too, which meant we got a huge room, it was almost as big as our house! The super-king sized bed was dreamy, so much so I could’ve just snuggled in it all day but obviously I had some serious sunbathing to be doing!

Okay, so the beach wasn’t massive, but what it lacked in space it made up for with the palm-tree lined shore, day beds and warm waters each day. It was the perfect place to relax and be waited on hand and foot, I was never short of Mojito or Riviera Maya cocktail every half an hour thanks to the lovely Ana, who really went out of her way to look after us. She always knew what we wanted & when we wanted which made everything so relaxing! James & I would lie there for hours just talking about life and everything in between. It was blissful.

What I loved most about the El Dorado Seaside Suites (aside from the amazing food, but we will get to that!) is that it wasn’t a huge complex, unlike many other hotels in Mexico. It was easy to navigate but you also didn’t feel hemmed in either. Nothing was too far away but you managed to explore and find something new most days! As I also said the food was tremendous and I mean really bloody scrumptious. The breakfasts were beyond our wildest dreams and we voted it the best meal of the day because there was just so much on offer from sausage and bacon, to waffles, pastries, pancakes, cereals – you name it, they had it. And if that wasn’t enough there was a chocolate fountain AND plenty of Mimosa’s to be had. Plus our lovely waiter Wilberth was amazing and was so tentative to our needs, he really went that extra mile to ensure we were always having a great breakfast!

In the evening it was waiter service and there were plenty of restaurants to try out. Our favourite had to be the Italian. I had a 5 star meal one night, which consisted of fillet steak and truffle mash & I have to say it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my entire life. The steak literally melted in my mouth – medium rare. Although, I had to have it a second time and it wasn’t quite as good. But, if you do ever go this is the meal you must try!

There was also the Mexican, Asian (sadly this lacked flavour and rated this our least favourite which is a shame as we love Asian/Thai food at home), International and the Vida Grill which was a mixture of dishes but really tasty!

Whilst most days it was glorious, we actually had some thunder and lightening storms that were incredible to watch albeit, a little scary. The temperatures were high 30’s, but because of the humidity being around 95% most days it felt a lot warmer than it actually was. Of course we expected this as during May – October is classed as hurricane season so the weather can be very up & down, hence lots of storms but we got away lightly with just one day of it. Otherwise I was hanging out every day in my Beau Dame Bikini & my sunglasses from Glasses Guru  which I absolutely adored, I went everywhere with them.

All I can think about on these Autumn days is how I spent that one blissful week in Mexico, it was the most amazing place that all I want to do is hop back on another plane and stay there forever. Who wouldn’t want to lay on that gorgeous beach everyday and drink your whole body weight in cocktails especially when they are brought to you in a pineapple head?

I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough from the spa, to the beach, from the food to the wonderful staff it just ticked so many boxes making it a truly fantastic trip. If you are heading to Mexico I urge you to consider the El Dorado Seaside Suites for your stay because you won’t be disappointed.

If you are interested in heading to Mexico, it’s probably worth reading my other posts about some of the places you can visit whilst you are on the Riviera Maya, such as Chichen Itza, Hubiku Cenote, Valladolid & Tulum. I really hope you’ve enjoyed all my posts about Mexico over the last week or so, whilst it’s been difficult to write them because all I want to do it hop, skip and jump back it’s been fab for remembering all the fun stuff we did too.

Have you been to Mexico? Thinking of heading there now? I’d love to hear from you.
