Lamberts Yard #ThePowderRoom | QueenBeady

I love Lamberts Yard, Leeds. It has this cool, urban, city chic feel to it. With it’s exposed red brick work, high ceilings and steel lighting fixtures it’s hard not to feel like you are in a super cool place in Brooklyn, NYC. The thing with Lamberts yard is that it houses a multitude of functions, those being a café downstairs, an exhibition space and it’s also home to some emerging, up and coming fashion lines too. I was invited, along with some of my fellow bloggers, to come and see their AW15 showcase of the new collections at their launch event #ThePowderRoom.

After scoffing some Brazilian rice balls and sweet potato fries at Cabana with Laura (A Forte For Fashion), Lucy (Lucy Loves) and Lizzy (Shot from the Street) we headed down to Lambert’s Yard just after 7pm to be greeted with some tunes blasting from the decks (my kind of event) I even got to try my hand at DJ’ing (yes, a complete geek, but I actually would love to get back in to training at my local radio station where I got to do similar sorts of stuff) The lighting cast down on some amazing pieces from all the collections such as Antipodium & Issa (the first store to stock the collection outside of London & the designers of the dress that HRH Kate Middleton (or K-Middy to you and I) wore for those gorgeous engagement photoshoot portraits.)

Cocktails were supplied by the Botanist which is a popular cocktail bar in Leeds that is becoming one of the must-go places when you are in town. Keeping us suitably boozed up for the night, there was a never-ending queue to top up but we were more engrossed with the collections to care. The clothes had a real androgynous style to them, using lots of muted tones such as greys, deep blues and browns. It was apparent that it was all about colour blocking but not in a garish sense of the way. Breton stripes were about as much pattern as you were going to get when it came to it. But in all honesty I liked that. These were pieces that you could create a capsule wardrobe with and it would last you a lifetime (and you would want it too for the prices.) By no means were these the cheapest of fashion garments but you pay for the quality in most cases and it’s clear that these independent designers put a lot detail in to creating sharp cuts and the finest materials.

Of course, the suede pieces were my favourite – especially the jackets. This style is fast becoming the ”must-have” piece of your AW15 wardrobe and it’s easy to get drawn in by the soft, luxurious feel and the camel browns. If only I had a nice wedge of cash because that coat would have been coming home with me! It wasn’t just about the clothes, there were some amazing accessories too, I wish I was someone who knew how to accessorize well but I end up looking so mish-mashed and of place that I try and avoid it, but you can’t go wrong with a good pair of sunglasses and there were plenty of pairs I could have easily taken home with me.

Some of the collections aren’t on sale till November but it will be worth it once they arrive. It always pays to have something that you can’t necessarily get in your bog-standard, high street stores because it’s more unique. I got chance to play with my new camera too, whilst I’m not the best I’m slowly getting to grips with it’s functions and I keep on continuing to learn! (I really hope you can see the difference in my photography on the blog.)

Have you been to Lambert’s yard? The last time I was there I took part in the Bon Marche AW15 Bloggers Catwalk which you can read here. Have you been to Lambert’s Yard & checked out their collections yet? What do you think to the AW15 collection?
