Double Denim ASOS
Suede Coat Mango | Denim Shirt ASOS | Jeans Armani | Shoes Dorothy Perkins

Yes, I’ve been living under a rock for the last year. I’ve never picked up on the double denim craze, but when I saw that ASOS had this lovely denim shirt in the sale it was pretty hard to resist. I never really thought it would work on a more curvier girl like myself, and whilst I’ll not look like the models on the runway or in the Levis campaigns I thought I dug it pretty well. You see, it falls back in to that 70’s style category that I seem to love so much. My wardrobe is 95% filled with suede, cord and those brown/red colours at the moment. I just don’t seem to be able to move from the style & it’s proven that it’s to stay a while longer with this gracing every high street shop for the last year or so.

You probably saw the little snippet of this outfit on my Instagram account a couple of days ago. I think it’s because I was just so excited that something like this actually suited me. It’s rare that styles on the high street work with my shape, I’m too curvy for most stores but don’t quite fit in to plus size as it were. I’m working on trying to make styles work for me with minor touches to most outfits. I’m learning to love my shape after many years despising it. I need a little more body confidence & I’m slowly working on that.

If you are trying to pull off this trend though you musn’t go overboard. I completed the look with my trusty suede jacket, it finishes off any outfit, but especially one that is rammed chocker full of double denim. It’s so soft to touch and just adds that certain, je nais se quoi, to anything I wear. Also, a huge tip is to mis-match the denim you’re wearing. You don’t want to start looking like Justin & Britney at that awards show now do you?

The jeans of course had to be flares, I mean, nothing says 70’s glamour like a pair of flares now does it? Plus I think if you wore skinny jeans the look would just look so… wrong! If you did I’d definitely suggest pairing blue denim, with black denim in this instance. A brown belt just pulled it all together too.

I’m not on the look out for a more fitted denim shirt (will my obsession ever end?) because I want to accentuate my figure a little bit better. Have you seen any? I’d love to know in the comments below!
