If there is one thing in life that I thoroughly recommend that anyone do, it would be simple. Travel. T R A V E L. Travel close to home, head across the waters, but make sure you travel outside of your own little bubble. For me, it gave me so much more confidence. I’m not talking about quitting my job and travelling the world (but lets face it, given the choice I think I know I would definitely pack up & go.) I’m just talking about getting on a plane for a weekend, a week or even two and exploring lands that you never normally would. I’ve got a run down of some of the places that I am dying to travel to and ClickStay makes it easier than ever to search for accommodation too.

If there is one place that is on mine and probably most of the world’s populations bucket list, it’s got to be the “Big Apple.” New York is seriously calling my name and as soon as someone shares on Facebook or Twitter that they have booked tickets there, my instant reply is “room for a little one?” I think there is something so surreal about feeling so small in such a big place, that it really takes your breath away. To go to the top of the Empire State building would be magnificient to look down on a city so vast way up high. I’d imagine I’d feel quite literally on top of the world. My idea of heaven would be exploring the super cool areas of NYC & ending a day sipping a cool beer in Brooklyn watching dusk as the sun sets on the metropolis that is New York. Maybe I have too many romanced ideas about the place but for me, it would be the holiday of a lifetime.

Ask me where I would pack my bag and go to tomorrow if I had the chance and the resounding answer would be Thailand. I’d take a flight to Bangkok to explore the city and see the world famous floating flower market, then I’d make my way around the mainland in Phuket & Krabi and then head across to the islands like Koh Phangnan for a full blow out of partying at the Full Moon Party that is synonymous with party-goers and travellers alike. The thing that I love most with Thailand is that one moment you can be completely in the thick of it and then take a drive and you are met with serene beaches. Someone book me a one-way ticket please!

Santorini

White washed building clinging to the steep cliffs, deep blue sea for miles and a glorious sunset to boot. Santorini, you have stolen my heart & I haven’t even been yet? There is nothing more on this earth that I would love to do than stay in one of the cave-like apartments, with a private pool looking out to sea. Greece is home to my favourite beer, Mythos too making it the perfect place to unwind by the pool with an ice cold beer. My idea of heaven would be to hop on the quad with my husband, drive up to Oia and watch the sun set over the sleepy island followed by a romantic dinner from one of the highest points in the island by candlelight. Someone wake me up from my daydream?

Dubrovnik

Despite loving the respite a holiday can give you, I like a destination to also throw out some pretty cool sights to visit too. Dubrovnik, Croatia has always been top of the list for me. With it’s medieval castles in the sea and the fortress that surrounds the town leaves plenty to be explored. I’ve heard only good things about the place, except that it can be a little steep when it comes to spends over there. But, a place so beautiful I don’t think I would mind. With weekly flights from Leeds Bradford I’m not sure why I haven’t just hopped on a plane and gone, but truth be told, if I did that with every destination I wanted to visit I don’t think I’d ever be in the UK.

Clickstay was formerly VillaRenters, which started way back in 2003 and is a similar sort of premise to AirBnB. It’s been going for many years making it a real trustworthy site to look for your own private pools and villas. It’s not just the sunnier climates you can visit, they also host a whole range of ski chalets too for the most daring traveller! With thousands of destinations and villas you won’t be stuck for choice when searching for your next holiday either.

Where do you have on your travel bucket list? Let me know where and why in the comments below, we need something to cheer us up during the January blues don’t we?
