I look at my most recent blog shoots and think, “bloody hell, these are good.” It sounds so terribly ostentatious of me, but I’m genuinely 100% happy with the direction my blog is taking. I work with two very talented photographers (hey, who else but Matt wouldn’t mind heading down a stinky alley way and tunnel to take some grimy shots like this?) who share a similar vision of what I want my blog and content to be all about. I’m done with the white backgrounds and stark bright photos, because life can’t always be that shiny canvas that I see everyday, and for me it’s just not possible. I bow down to those who can emulate that every single day but for me, it would be too tiring.

My personal style has also come along way these last few months. I’ve realised that I don’t need to follow certain trends because they won’t always suit me. So instead I adapt them for me, my personality and also shape. Like layering up, as a curvier girl I am prone to looking a little top heavy when I layer up. I’ve come to realise I need to use thinner materials that won’t cling too much. Like this ASOS Jumper and Dress that I paired together. Something so simple, yet really effective. It kept me super warm on a cold, winters day in Leeds which is exactly what I needed.

These Moda In Pelle Chelsea boots haven’t really left my feet since I received them back in November. They are the classic Chelsea boot with a slight heel to make me a little bit taller than my mini 5 foot 3 stature. They are good quality, fit perfectly and look tres chic, that I now pretty much revolve most outfits around them. But to be quite honest, it’s not hard to pair them up as they look so bloody good with everything in my wardrobe! To finish it off add a killer, camel coat that will make you all *heart eyed emoji* that you just can’t handle it, along with a sophisticated watch and clutch that you are ready to show the world that you are the “layering queen.”

2016 has been one of those roller coaster years, hasn’t it? I’ve learnt things about friends and family this last month and I’ve been so completely unaware that it’s made me a little mad with myself. The last few months have been a struggle for me personally which some people are aware of, some aren’t. I’ve been so wrapped up in my own little bubble trying to work on “me” that I’ve barely taken time out to realise what is going on around me. I really want to change that for 2017, especially now I’m in a much better place (or so I at least hope for the foreseeable.)

I’m working on smiling more, being more cheery and enjoying the little things that are going on around me. I also need to realise when to slow down. That was one of my major issues this year. I never said no, we kept committing to things in our social calendars that never meant we had down time. Working on my blog these last few weeks has also really inspired me to keep going with it, for a while I was left disheartened because there’s so many people vying for the views, the followers and more that I just got so lost in it all because I want to this space on the web to be successful. Comparison really is the thief of joy.

I’ve come to realise that within the blogosphere, I do create content that’s ever so slightly different and I think I’m heading in the right direction. I have my own USP and so many people have patted me on the back with how my blog and instagram is looking, it’s so humbling to see hard work noticed without having to shout from the rooftops. Now that 2016 is nearly over, I hope you’ll join me for some really exciting blog plans I already have lined up for 2017!
