3 SPAS IN YORKSHIRE THAT YOU CAN VISIT WITH A #MOVEGB MEMBERSHIP

This is a sponsored collaboration with MoveGB.

I have to say that using my MoveGB membership has been a dream over the last couple of months. I’ve tried rock climbing in Sheffield and been to various classes on my doorstep that I would never have tried if I had paid per class. You see, this membership has been fabulous to get my teeth in to various activities I wouldn’t normally try – the possibilities are endless. However, the one thing that has drawn me to the membership even more so, is the fact you can use it to head to local spa’s. Can I get an amen?

Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa, Leeds

This gorgeously, extravagant spa is located on the outskirts of Leeds (and conveniently now located next to the new shopping centre – The Springs.) This one is a mere 10 minute drive from my home, just off the motorway, so you can guarantee that I will be finding myself relaxing here after a hard day in the office. It’s a firm, family favourite spa for if you want to escape the rat race of the city centre without feeling away from it all.

It’s sleek, clean and large pool offer you a moment of peaceful tranquillity – a way to ease stress and get a few lengths in so you at least feel like you’ve done a bit of exercise! Complete with a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi you could just have a girly spa day here, and whilst you’re at it – why not treat yourself to a massage* whilst you’re there too? It’s a dream knowing that I can escape here with my MoveGB membership.

Mercure St Pauls, Sheffield

This spa is slap bang right in the middle of Sheffield, right next to the stunning Winter Gardens and inside the incredibly modern and bright Mercure hotel. We spent a sunny, Monday afternoon here – so the place would have been wonderful if there had been an outdoor jacuzzi, but alas, this is a city centre spa so can’t expect everything at our fingertips.

Whilst this wasn’t my favourite spa that I’d ever been to, it had the makings of a brilliant one, if the maintenance had been a little bit better and the lighting were a little brighter (some area’s felt a little dingy.) Surprisingly, the Mercure had a steam room, a sauna, an ice room, tropical rain shower and a rather large pool but there wasn’t a jacuzzi in sight which I was a little disappointed in. It felt more like a health club rather than a place you would go for a spa, so if you like to head to a fitness suite and cool off in the pool, this is the place for you. Personally, if you’re looking to use your MoveGB membership there are better spa’s elsewhere to use it!

Kenwood Hall Leisure Club, Sheffield

The beauty of Kenwood Hall is that it is set within 12 acres of idyllic parkland, which really feels like you’re escaping to a countryside retreat with your MoveGB plan, even though it’s only a mile away from the city centre of Sheffield.

Set within gorgeous grounds and a beautiful old building – this is what I expect on a little days retreat at the spa. But, with 2 floors that include a spa and fitness suite you are spoilt for choice with how to spread your time. Head upstairs and work up a sweat before heading downstairs to the relaxing confines of the spa.

It boasts a heated kidney-shaped Swimming Pool, a Jacuzzi Whirlpool, a Steam Room and a Sauna (which is currently closed for refurbishment.)

Again, if you’re feeling flush, why not treat yourself to a treatment* – after all, you’ve made the effort of heading to the spa, it’d be a shame not to go the whole hog!

Personally, I think it’s fabulous that spa’s and leisure clubs are included on the MoveGB plans up and down the country – after all, it’s all about balance and we all deserve a little bit of down time after all.

Would you be tempted to sign up to the MoveGB plan if you could visit spas as well as use it for exercise classes?
