I’m a country girl at heart. Yes the fast paced city is exciting and overly indulgent, but there is nothing quite like the open-air and the relaxing countryside to really put the wind in your sails. I’m also very lucky that I am married to a Farmers son, so weekends are spent ”down the yard” collecting eggs from the chickens, feeding pet lambs and watching the piglets and calves all run around. It’s a pretty spectacular lifestyle to be a part of. With the wonderful country life, you need to have the right attire and to be prepared for all the seasons too. I have invested in various pairs of Hunter wellington boots and a wax Barbour jacket for such days. I’ve never really looked any further with their range but I was delighted to find a variety of summer pieces that could fill my ever-growing wardrobe.

This gingham shirt is an absolute favourite of mine. Sometimes it’s not always about the t-shirts, jeans and boiler suits so if you want something a little nicer this is perfect. I can imagine taking a stroll in the Yorkshire countryside with a picnic hamper and enjoying some Pimms in the sunshine in this.  Not only that, it’s actually a pretty slimming shirt too. I was worried it might drown me and make me look a little dowdy, however, I was surprised to find that it actually fit like a glove!

I don’t know about you but I always thank my lucky stars that we have a special place that we can frequently visit and be a part of. No two days are ever the same on the farm, it’s hard work for the in-laws but it’s a fantastic, exhilarating lifestyle to have. And come on, baby animals? I’m so tempted to steal a little piglet to take home. I’m not quite sure how our little dog would take to that though!

If you are a fan of Barbour you can enter their competition here to win a luxury, countryside stay or an outfit head to toe from HRM Barbour too, plus many more prizes! Do you prefer the countryside to the city? Are you a fan of Barbour too?
