Summer Staycation with Think Money Group | QueenBeady

seaside staycation

There’s something so wonderful about exploring the local land. Whilst most of us dream of jetting across the waters to distant destinations, sometimes it’s quite nice to explore our own territory. Plus, where else can you get a good cup of tea other than in the UK? I was so lucky as a child to travel up and down the country with my Grandparents on holiday, my fondest memories were those spent in our static caravan in Sewerby near Bridlington though. We’d pack up the car on a Friday night after school and head up the A64 to the fresh sea air. We’d have late night fish & chips for our first supper on the promenade, with a quick walk round the amusements, pop in to the little book shop so I could pick an Enid Blyton short story book & then finish off with my favourite; a mint choc chip ice cream. It was so easy.

As I’ve got older I’ve been drawn to the countryside more so, I enjoy nothing more than heading to the Lake District. I’m not sure why, but walking and experiencing that cute, village life is always a joy. With quaint little tea shops set against a trickly beck and limestone cottages, to that fresh air that only you get in the woods or forests. I feel quite at home in these surroundings. When Think Money Group asked me about my dream bank holiday weekend away I was stopped in my tracks, because truth be told whilst I love the places I’ve just fondly remembered I actually spend my bank holiday weekend in a field, not just any field, a festival field. It’s one weekend a year where I can indulge in all the musical festivities. We sit around a small camp fire talking in to the early morning, there is something so spectacular about a UK Festival. We do them pretty damn well.

Whilst the luxury of a 5 star hotel, with a plush bed & warm, running baths sounds so very appealing, there is nowhere I would rather spend my August bank holiday. Pitching up your tent is pretty fun, with a drink in one hand and a pole in the other, the fun is endless. You see, Leeds Festival is actually on our doorstep – we are so very lucky! But of course, you need the ticket, the tent & dare I say it, the alcoholic beverages that go hand in hand with a festival. So, for my entry in the Think Money Group Staycation contest I don’t need anything fancy, I just need good sounds, good people (of course my husband) & preferably a waterproof tent over my head and I’d have my perfect bank holiday weekend sorted. It doesn’t take a lot to please me!

Where would you go if you had a free weekend in the UK? Are you heading to any festivals this summer, and like me love them? Let me know!
