As an icebreaker we were all gathered round to be told that we needed to put together an outfit from all the clothes on the rail, awesome right? Strike that. The catch was we had to use a rail of very unwanted clothes from Martin House to create our final look. I was definitely in the mood to #werkit because I’d already spotted some crêpe, cream wide leg trousers from that rail & all I needed was the perfect top to match it. Searching high & low I finally came across an oversized, flowy blouse that just fit the bill so well. It was a ”walking along the French Riviera” kinda look, you know that Amal Clooney of outfits (think her real, official wedding suit she wore but with a bit more blue.) After we had pulled the rails apart to find the perfect outfit it was show & tell, where we had to decide the winner of the £100 one4all voucher! I genuinely thought the competition was stiff and that Laura of A Forte For Fashion was going to pip me to the post with her brown grunge-esque inspired outfit, but with 5 vote for my outfit, I took the crown of charity chic fashion winner! I was pretty shocked to say the least & I still am. There is now a run in joke that I cannot win anything else, I seem to be on a winning streak.
Time to shop. I’d had my eye on some lovely pieces for Leeds Festival, an oversized, men’s denim shirt and some suede shorts. Of course, I had to purchase the shirt that won me my voucher too. So I was the proud owner of 3 more items, £10 had gone in to the charity pot and I had also donated some clothes too. An incredible feeling knowing that you are helping such a worthwhile cause!
Afternoon Tea was served & my word, it was delicious. Plated on 3 tier cake stands we had cakes, sandwiches and scones. It was heavenly. All supplied by Just Grand! its clear to see why this place books up fast all the time. It was lovely to chat with Jenna from Hepcat Blogs, Kellie from Big Fashionista & Mary from Strike A Pose. I love catch ups with my blogger friends & I’m so lucky that we get to do this on such a regular basis!
We managed to raise a whopping £300 for Martin Houses and the main reason I want to write this blog post is that I do want you to go and donate to Martin House, it’s a place of solace for those who need love & support through terrible disease/life threatening illnesses. It’s a charity that is paramount to Yorkshire . It also provides the after support to those who have lost their young children too. What they do is a mammoth task that has to be done to help people through these tragic circumstances. If you can’t spare a few pounds, why not clear out your wardrobe and hold a little clothes party at your house, or take them down to local Martin House charity stores in Boston Spa & Wetherby. There are so many ways you can help and if you’d like to learn more click here!
