It seems utterly crazy that the word ”Christmas” has appeared on my blog. Yesterday marked it as 2 months away from the day that Santa comes along on his sleigh and puts presents under your tree (or so I was lead to believe for many years!) and whilst Christmas has many other traditions getting your outfit right on the day is also a very big task. George at Asda asked me to put together the perfect Christmas Day outfit and whilst searching their site to do that I couldn’t help feel a little giddy picking and choosing my favourite bits from their latest dress collection.

I have a penchant for all things suede or pinafore at the moment, so when I became a cropper and found this suedette pinafore dress I just knew it was perfect for me. I love getting dressed up for Christmas but I don’t like to be too overdone and this dress has a real good balance at looking lovely but also being super practical and comfy for the long day ahead. It’s also bang on trend at the moment, with plenty of browns and rusty red colours it was hard not to pair it with this gorgeous faux fur cape from the range too. They compliment each other perfectly.

I say it many times on this blog (so I’m sorry if I am boring you with it again!) but that’s because I realise that my style is very much has a 1970’s vibe to it. I like comfort, but I like looking good with it too which is why this effortless look is something I come back to every time without even realising it. I’m not quite sure what I will do in the summer when this colour palette is not as readily available on the high street anymore.

Because the dress has short sleeves it was silly not to wear something underneath, so to keep super cosy & warm I wore my grey roll neck thin jumper and complete the look (and not get hypothermia) a pair of thick denier tights from Primark did the trick. My boots are a staple in my wardrobe and you’ll have seen them before if you frequent this blog regularly but they are easy to wear and pretty versatile too. The heels are a deep brown colour which matched some of the blocks on my cape. How’s about that for perfection?

Whether you like to jazz it up on Xmas and go the full bells and whistles with glitter or sequins or your family are a novelty Christmas jumper clan, George at Asda has so much to offer this year. It was hard to choose just a few staple items. And with the reasonable prices, it’s the perfect excuse to buy one of everything for all Christmas day eventualities too. I can’t wait to wear this over the Festive period, I’ve already twirled this in front of my sister in law who has her eye on the cape – I think it’s going to be very popular!

What do you like to wear on Christmas day? Do you have any traditions? What’s your favourite part of this outfit? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
