Anyone who knows me, will know that I much prefer the countryside to the inner city. I’m an absolute sucker for Country Cottage interiors. I enjoy bobbing in & out of town to go shopping but that is where it starts and ends for me. I love being able to walk outside & breath in fresh air. No pollution or smog that comes with living in an urban area. With that in mind I’m always trawling the internet for inspiration & being a huge Pinterest addict helps finding the perfect, twee, little country cottage home for inspiration too. However despite the mass amount of photos I keep finding myself re-pinning the same images over & over again, so I needed to find a new approach when searching for my perfect, forever home. I came across Homify it was simply filled with the most adorable interior inspiration.

We own our own home and whilst it is lovely, I’m always dreaming of that perfect chocolate box cottage; with an acre of land for our imaginary children to play in, James could put his green thumbs to use, with a pumpkin patch and an area to grow strawberries and carrots. I’d be busy baking a cake and creating a whopping great feat. You know the real dream life.

It’s not just about the house itself, it’s how you lovingly design the inside. When we moved in we decided that we wanted to treat ourselves to some gorgeous Country Living sofa’s, they set us back a pretty penny but when we do eventually move in to our dream home they will be perfect and the quality of them will stand the test of time. From choosing the colour schemes of charcoals and olive green give it a fresh look but with some warmth rather than the stark white or magnolia, it gives the room a new lease of life. Mixing old with new is also a great way to bring your home in to the 21st century but still keeping it authentic.

For decoration ideas, we bought some hanging frames that can be clipped together. I put some of my dried wedding flowers in one which has given the room a real country-cottage esque vibe to it, and around that we have built a picture wall. Complete with a large Thomas Kent Clock, some artwork we commissioned from an old school friend of Amsterdam (our favourite city in the world) and more. Everyone compliments us on how cute it looks and how the room screams ”us.” That’s all you could ever want from a home.
