I’ve said many times on social media and even wrote about it here, that I just don’t seem to be able to get in to the Festive spirit this year. It’s not that I’m a scrooge – I love embracing Christmas. Decorating the Christmas tree, all the chocolate (and I mean alllll the chocolate) and big fat roasts to devour. There’s nothing I enjoy more than a cosy weekend indulging in all things Christmas. I’ve just clicked on to Facebook and funnily enough, someone else has just posted a status about not feeling Christmassy this year too. It looks like I’m not the only one. But, I think I’ve finally put my finger on it.

It’s the weather. It’s been so mild, in fact today it was around 14 degrees celcius, that’s practically warmer than some summer says we have here in England. Sorry to scare you but I think Global Warming is here a lot sooner than we could have ever thought. Whilst some people can’t stand the idea of snow, I long for a white Christmas. It was always something I prayed for on Christmas Eve. I’d hope for a white blanket to cover everywhere, to be able to make a snowman before we opened presents – but to be honest I can only remember one or two Christmases being like that & I wasn’t the bright eyed little child those times.

Today is Sunday. We had to tick off a few more Christmas presents off the list and I decided that to get our of my slump I’d wear this gorgeous, Nordic knits from Fat Face with my new wishbone necklace (a little nod the Christmas Turkey tradition!) from Mminimal. And if I’m honest it did work a little getting me in the Festive mood. The colours remind me of our Christmas tree too! Afterwards we decided to head out and walk our little dog, Skye over at the in laws farm. The sun was shining, despite the warmth, it was pretty blustery so I wrapped up in my new Winter Coat and popped my pillar box red wellies on. This pair is taking a lot of wearing in compared to my navy ones.

Tired out, both the pooch & I we headed back home so I could cook a great big, fat roast. If it’s one thing I’m good at in the kitchen it’s a delicious Sunday roast – even my husband will admit that one. It’s safe to say, plates filled high we were both stuffed but made sure we still had a little room left for our Crème brulee for desert. As I write this I have candles burning, the Christmas tree lights on and there’s a gathering on our village green where there’s a brass band playing Christmas Carols. I’m half tempted to put my coat on an go out to join them – “falalalalalaaaaaaa”

Are you feeling the same? On a festive rollercoaster that keeps going up and down? Not finished present buying either? Maybe my luxury gift guide will help you!
