Unless you live under a rock you’ll know that it’s the BAFTAS this evening. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts award ceremony that celebrates all things gloriously British from the stage and screen. Growing up I longed to be an actress but realized quickly my dream would not emerge victorious so instead studied fashion and textiles in sixth form. I’ve always been in to style and for me the awards ceremony not only catches my eye for the dramatic entertainment but also the magnificent dresses that come with a red carpet appearance too.

I’m not a huge fan of glitz and glam but I am all for getting dressed up in something that makes me feel fabulous. When House of Fraser wanted me to get involved to celebrate all the fun of the BAFTAS with their #BAFTAStyle challenge and a few homemade #HOFtails I knew I didn’t need something with diamante or jewels on to feel like I’d be worthy of walking the red carpet.

I’m massively in to the 70’s style and I think that influenced my decision with this dress. Although it might not be something you would necessarily being worn to an awards ceremony, because it came in this long, maxi style I don’t see why it shouldn’t be? I like to do things a little differently and this dress is certainly a little off the wall. But you know what? I felt like a bit of a Goddess in it and not only that the slits gave it that Angelina Jolie-esque vibe to it. However, I don’t think mine can match her pins!

I paired the dress with my Monsoon mules because I don’t think anything else could have matched it quite as well as these. Plus they are super comfy, there’s no way I’ll be tripping up in them in front of the paparazzi! I’m a sucker for the fluted sleeves on the dress too.

Of course tonight will be spent watching the awards ceremony unfold with a glass of prosecco in hand! Good luck to all the nominee’s in each category! I’ll be keeping a close eye on all the fashion of the night too. Who are you most looking forward to seeing on the red carpet? I’d love to know your thoughts as the night unfolds.
