MAKING THE HOME MORE HYGGE | QUEENBEADY

I think everyone needs a little bit of “Hygge” in their life. It’s a way of life that has been fully embraced by the UK over the last few months, this Danish concept roughly translates to “cosiness” within ones home and life. It’s a term that is definitely one I want to embrace, especially through the winter months when the weather becomes significantly cooler. Being snug is a top priority. One way that can drastically change a home in to ultimate comfort is by lighting several scented candles (heart eyed emojis all round) and making the house smell nice in the process too. This oriental spice & cherry blossom candle from The English Soap Company is no exception to the rule.

I’ve been pretty darned stressed out these last few months due to one thing and another so making sure I’m feeling relaxed and surrounded by a conducive environment is paramount. Amara Living asked me to pick out a few pieces and this Neom Organics Intesive Treatment for stress relief  was high up on the shopping list. It only uses 100% natural products with 24 pure pressed essential oils designed specifically to reduce stress levels and calm the body ,(something I definitely require) The fragrance includes sweet and woody cedar wood, leathery cognac, spices and a hint of lime and black pepper. Simply rub it on to various pressure points and breath deeply, in and out for 7 seconds to let the aroma work it’s magic. I instantly felt calmed and far more “zen” than expected. It pretty much comes everywhere with me in case things get a little bit difficult.

We are in the midst of re-modelling our kitchen. Walls down, dust everywhere and tools on every work surface so trying to make home feel more “home like” is becoming increasingly difficult in and around the building work. This gorgeous diamond rug from Amara Living is now sitting pride of place in our hallway to greet people in to our home. It feels so cosy underfoot which I hope sets the scene of a Hygge home! I’m hoping to decorate the downstairs in neutral hues of greys and white once we have our new kitchen fitted.

I couldn’t think of anything more Hygge than having a large bookshelf or a hoard of books ready to be read. I’ve been reading a few more self-help books to channel a more positive outlook on life in amongst my easy reading fiction novels that I always manage to get lost in. Put all the above together in one room and quite frankly, it’s a great recipe to making a home more Hygge. Would you agree? Have you embraced this new wave of lifestyle – have you any more tips for me?
