CELEBRATING GALENTINES DAY | QUEENBEADY

February 20, 2017

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

We all need that time with our sisterhood, do you feel me? A day of pure indulgence, shopping till you max your cards out (oops, no I didn’t, I promise) and catch ups are always the order of the day when my sister & I get together. PrezzyBox helped us out too, with a gift card for Patisserie Valerie so we could rest our weary bones after a long day shopping because of course, you need a sit down and also an hour to stuff cakes and pastries down ya’ neck too. (Did I just do another oops?)

Patisserie Valerie’s pretty much frequent most city centre’s which is why the gift card from PrezzyBox is so great. If you can’t get booked in one place, it’s only a matter of a skip, hop and jump to the next town centre that has one. The one in Leeds is situated on Albion Street which is slap bang in the centre. It’s a long, thin, tiny hole so you’d be mistaken for missing this little place, but having said that it seem to be busy all day long. Luckily, as we had pre-booked with them we had a little table reserved near the back of the café.

We dumped our (millions of) bags down, resting our arms from all the carrying and ferrying all our wares around with us. We were booked in for the standard Afternoon Tea with comes with unlimited drinks. We decided to both have a pot of morning breakfast tea between us because it was quite a chilly day. I took a big welcome gulp and it hit my tummy with a warm, fuzzy sensation that only tea can give you.

Whilst we waited for our rather decadent Afternoon Tea to come along we just chatted about everything going on in our lives, what was bothering us, what was making us happy. I really appreciate every second I get to spend with my sister.

When the tall trays arrived with every single type of cake you could imagine, with gorgeous scones and clotted cream, we started on the selection of sandwiches which were a delight. After scoffing the lot we moved on to the second level of dense yet fluffy (how does that even happen?) scones, lathered in clotted cream and raspberry jam – it was enough to make me giddy and also fill me for the rest of the afternoon. Luckily, Patisserie Valerie boxed up the uneaten cakes on top but having been to one before I knew that the carrot cake was a winner so I couldn’t wait to eat that. Thank goodness for the kind waitresses who were more than accommodating through our whole experience.

Included with our voucher, it allowed us to choose 4 cakes up to the value of £10 for a little “doggy bag” to take home. I chose 2 Vanilla Slices and 2 dense Chocolate Mousse Cake which were heavenly. Although Mr C ate most of them after missing out on the whole Afternoon Tea experience. Poor little lamb.

Spending quality time with loved ones should be cherished and doing something a little different every once in a while can really bring you back together and make that bond even firmer, PrezzyBox has a number of different experiences you can enjoy here. You don’t have to stick to eating cake (although it is recommended) you can get outdoors with an adrenaline-filled activity or head to a spa for a little bit of downtime. Having our own little Galentines Day meant that we had a whole day dedicated to just us two which was so lovely and should be done way more often.

How did you spend your Galentines Day this year?

*Our gift voucher was gifted, but all lip-smacking cake thoughts were my own.
