LET’S CAUSE A LITTLE TOM FOOLERY | QUEENBEADY

Our local village has become a thriving little place to be. Boston Spa was always considered as either for the rich and stuffy, or the working class. There was no in between. With the demise of local eateries and a few pubs, our village began to look a little desolate. Fast forward a few years later and the high street is now filled with gorgeous new spots where I can a) get my coffee fix and b) EAT ALL THE BRUNCH. Because we all know how much I love brunch. Regeneration is fabulous thing and we are reaping the benefits because that is where Tom Foolery comes in.

Tom Foolery, took over what was a wine bar that sadly began to fade in to a distant memory. Sticky floors and tables started to let the place down and people started heading to the new cocktail spots and ale houses that offered a much better experience on our high street. So, when news came that a new social hub would be coming to that very spot, shortly after it closed, we were all very much looking forward to it opening.

With film days for families, delicious, freshly cooked pizzas and ladies nights where you can fill your boots with prosecco it’s safe to say it’s a welcome venue for evening drinks or a catch up amongst friends over a filling breakfast.

Slightly hungover one Sunday morning (yes, we indulged in a couple of ting & gin cocktails that left me feeling slightly scuzzy the next day – so sue me?) I decided that despite our fridge containing eggs and bacon, I was just in no fit state to make breakfast for us both. And with the promise of a cooked meal, Mr C hopped, jumped and skipped out of bed (well, almost!) and we headed for a leisurely brunch over at Tom Foolery.

There is no surprise that this place is packed to the rafters morning, noon and night and that’s not just at weekends. It’s a hive for yummy mummies and those who can indulge in a weekly coffee out of the house (when WILL that be me? Le sigh.)

Depsite the screaming child (who soon quietened down when his pancakes came) we divulged in the menu. James immediately chose the Full English, complete with Smoked back bacon, Sausage, Black pudding, Poached eggs, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Homemade baked beans & Toast (talk about nom-a-licious!). I however on the other hand, went a little “off-piste.” I ordered sourdough with Smoked back bacon, Sausage, Poached eggs, Mushrooms and the most delicious Homemade baked beans. You HAVE to try them. You can find the full menu here.

Mr C required coffee stat and settled for a black Americano, I on the other hand needed a thirst quench so ordered a Passionfruit & Pineapple cooler, which hydrated my mouthpiece (that currently resembled and felt like the Sahara Desert.)

Within about 20 minutes we received our food, it took a little longer but we were safe in the knowledge that it was being cooked fresh and boy, when it arrived did it deliver. I’ve been salivating about it ever since. Oh man, those homemade beans are to die for and my toasted sour dough filled that carb-shaped hole in my life.

Not only was the food top notch, the venue itself is something to be hold. Quirky features such as a vintage, bird cage (with no bird in it, obvs!), to the London Underground Sign and look out for the blackboard with the staff’s thoughts of the day on. It’ll be sure to make you chuckle.

Both of us can’t wait to go back and divulge once more, but if you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods, Tom Foolery needs to be your next brunch spot.

Have you a cute, independent brunch spot near you that I should try out?
