6 REASONS TUSCANY NEEDS TO BE YOUR NEXT HOLIDAY DESTINATION | QUEENBEADY

italy

Italy. Oh, Italy. You really are the destination of dreams. From your dramatic cliffs on the Amalfi Coast, to the ancient ruins of Rome and to the ever stylish streets of Capri or Milan. I adore everything about the country. However, I feel I have only scratched the surface. I’ve been blinded by its bright city lights or the crashing waves against the Neapolitan riviera and never gave the Italian countryside a second thought. Until now.

The Wine
Okay, so prosecco has been my choice of poison for many, many years. And with it being native to Italy it’s only fair I’ve enjoyed a few glasses (or more!) but we’ve finally got accustomed with red wine. Yes. It’s taken us over 27 years to do so. But now we have and the Tuscan countryside is home to acres and acres of vineyards it would be rude not to take advantage of its nurtured delights. Let’s crack open a bottle of the regions famous Chianti, shall we?

Off the Beaten Track
For me, getting away from the “Brits abroad-esque” destination is a top priority. I like somewhere where I can divulge myself in all the local flavours, meet locals and enjoy quiet moments with them. Listen to the native tongue and wish I’d chosen a foreign language during my GCSEs. There’s nothing quite submersing yourself in a local culture and feeling like you’ve been somewhere completely new.

The Views
Although there’s no deep blue sea, Tuscany still has views to boot. Rolling, green hills are the order of the day in the Tuscan countryside. And I’m a huge lover of being out in the country. Away from it all. The peace and quiet to some can be quite daunting but I thrive on it. There’s nothing more soothing that getting away from it all and having views for days. Am I right?

The Fashion
I’m sure we are all guilty of thinking Milan is the capital of fashion in Italy, but you might be surprised to learn that the Tuscany region produces 60% of it’s trade from the textiles and fashion industry. Being large producers of silk, I can imagine wearing a beautiful, green  silk cover up on cooler nights as a little nod to the regions rolling, green hills. Not only that, but the quality of leather in Italy is superb. I’ve often picked up a belt or a leather bag that has lasted years. With Italy being home to Gucci (one of their belts and an over the shoulder bag are firmly on my Christmas list this year.), Prada and Dolce and Gabbana  The Italians just ooze style. I noticed a real nod the monochrome vibes when weve visited, a crisp, white shirt along with a pair of tailored, black cigarette pants with a pair of killer heels and a designer handbag to boot. Effortless.

Local Cuisine
We all know and love Italy for its carb-o-rific delights of pizza and pasta but each region does things ever so differently and I can imagine the food being ever that much more authentic in and around Tuscany, yet just using the simplest ingredients. I imagine the lead “mama” cooking for hours, making pasta that you could only ever dream of tasting, followed by a big slurp of red wine!

The Sights
No trip to Tuscany would be complete without a visit to the ever famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. I mean, you do have to get that insta shot where it looks like you’re trying push it up again, am I right? Or even the statue of David by  But aside from the obvious, take a trip to Luca, a quaint Italian town that poses charm.

Have you ever considered a trip to Tuscany, to get away from it all to experience an authentic kind of Italy? Let me know your fave spots in this beautiful country! Also, how would you style up for Tuscany?
