CREATING A BOUTIQUE HOTEL STYLE BEDROOM WITH LEESA* | QUEENBEADY

November 5, 2018

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Leesa.

We recently moved in to our new home in September which has been wonderful. I had a very clear vision that I wanted to really make this house our home and my first stop would see us creating a boutique hotel style bedroom with Leesa because I wanted my bedroom to feel like a sanctuary where I could relax and unwind. In our old home we were really stuck with what we could do with it, a rather humble two up – two down set up meant there wasn’t much scope for decorations and every piece of furniture had to be butted up the 4 walls within an inch of its life. Now, my interiors flare can truly shine.

Whilst our bedroom is nowhere near finished we’ve made simple steps that are making our room feel more like our own. I can’t wait to share our final creation, but for now you can have the starters for ten.

You know the score, when you first move in to a house you sleep on makeshift beds, you eat on the floor and generally don’t even know where to start. So I’m thankful that Leesa kindly gifted us a king-sized, mattress which has seen us move from our makeshift, air bed on top of an old bed frame sleeping scenario to a much comfier nights sleep.

My main aim to create a more “boutique hotel” vibe in our bedroom was to finally have our own mattress. That no-one (and I mean no-one!) had ever slept on it before us. Because after years of sleeping on hand me down mattresses I was about to get extra and demand we get a new one (thank the lord that Leesa got involved as I’m not sure Mr C could have dealt with one more diva strop during our move!)

Once our brand-new king-sized, brass bed frame was delivered and set up we could begin to finally open up our “vacuüm packed” mattress from Leesa I could already tell that my back troubles were going to ease away with each nights sleep.

The one thing I do when I stay at gorgeous hotels is the bed jump, you know the one, where you throw yourself backwards on to a huge bed without fear of breaking the bed frame (which I most certainly did not do when I was 11 and I shared a room with my sister!) to test its firmness. I for one love a firm bed, I’m not all about that sinking feeling when you get tucked up and I certainly do not want to not feel like I’m about to roll over on to my husband like the hippo I sometimes feel I am.

I wanted the complete opposite.

I wanted support and a bed I could just lie flat in.

And, boy did I get it.

The beautiful thing about the Leesa it is designed to cradle and support your body whilst removing that sinking feeling you sometimes get with softer mattresses. Here goes the scientific facts that completely go over my head but equate to a better nights sleep (and that’s proven because boy do I get a much more quality 40 winks than I have ever before!) The top layer is 5cm of Avena® foam which provides airflow for a cooler night’s sleep and enough bounce for freedom of movement which means I don’t overheat in the night – perfection! Next up is the 5cm memory foam layer which delivers the body contouring and pressure relief you’ve come to expect from memory foam (without it engulfing your body I might add.) and lastly, the dense core support is the 15cm base of foam layer that adds strength, durability and structure to support us in the land of nod without it feeling too firm.

Briefly I mentioned that we also bought a new bed frame. After a bit of a palava trying to get the bed frame on 0% finance with Dreams, the day we bought it miraculously had £200 knocked off it so we could head on down and put the cash on the table. I’d been searching high and lo for a brass bed that didn’t look too much like it was stuck in the Victorian times but also that it wasn’t too modern – it’s a fine line. But, luckily we managed to find the Dinton Brass Bed in king-size which seemed to fit the criteria all too well. It was pretty easy to assemble ourselves and we had it up in a matter of about five to ten minutes, we let our mattress open up from its vaccum pack and slowly expand (it was weirdly satisfying watching it.) Although it says leave it 24 hours, we had had enough of sleeping on an air bed that we jumped straight in to it that night.

So many people commented that we would love our bed and I thought to myself, surely it can’t be that great. But, low and behold, it was. I now just want to curl up in it as early as I can every night!

My vision for creating a bedroom was that it could rival the Hoxton hotel even came down to the matching, grid style bed sheets that I managed to find on Argos which are pretty damn good dupes of those you’d find at the hotel. (For the price of them I’m well and truly stocked up on these bad boys for wash days!)

Finding funky table lamps was high priority, I picked up these metal, desk lamps from Habitat at Argos which scream Hoxton and are very similar to the ones we found at the Parisian establishment!

There’s still more to do, like we need to paint the walls and built-in wardrobes, add new door knobs, get new curtains and make finishing decorational touches we’ve made headway which is a start. I well and truly can’t wait to share the final touches with you when it’s finished! (Let’s just hope it doesn’t take a year to do!)

Whilst there’s still a little way long way to go,for the time being I’m just enjoying the comfort of a brand new mattress every night! What a simple joy in life?
