5 WAYS TO SPARK INSPIRATION FOR YOUR BLOG

As predominantly a travel blogger I write a lot about travel, holidays and adventure – but sadly, working full times means I can’t always be on the go, visiting new & exciting destinations each week (as much as I’d like to!) Instead I have to think outside of the box to create new and interesting content. Here are 5 ways to spark inspiration for your blog…

INVEST IN A BLOGGERS COURSE

I don’t normally like to encourage people to spend a lot of money on something so specific, but sometimes you just have to invest in yourself and that is perfectly fine! There’s so many courses online aimed at bloggers now, that it’s hard to see the wood from the trees, but there’s one course in particular that I purchased back in December that I’m slowly working my way through and have reaped many rewards already from. The Travel Hacks very own 12 week Blogger Course was a small investment I made and I’ve been so happy I did. With 12 modules, it’s made me think about my blog in new ways that I wouldn’t have ever thought of had I not joined the school.
What’s more the course is only £150 (which is very reasonable compared to other courses!) and there’s a 6 month payment plan that makes it super affordable. There’s also a secret group for those who join and it’s a great place to chat and discuss new ideas.

SET YOURSELF A FUN CHALLENGE

I find in the winter I get major winter-blues and I don’t even realise it. My blog gets left and I can’t be bothered to keep up the maintenance of it. Now the lighter nights are back I’m finding it easier to dedicate more time to my blog. So, after chatting with Monica in the blogger course group she said she was going to write 1 blog post a day, she didn’t mean necessarily post one a day but I took it to that extreme – so far I’ve posted nine out of ten days which I’m pretty chuffed with because I probably only posted ten times in the full year of 2018. It’s reigniting my love for the simple form of writing! Photography will always be one of my main passions so I’m going to try do something a little creative in May when my 30 days blog post challenge comes to a climax. Sophie Cliff is doing a fab job of her 100 day project over on Instagram too, so go check it out for some inspiration.

WRITE DOWN 100 BLOG POST IDEAS

Sit down and get comfortable because this one might take a bit of time. I want you to think about your blog and it’s niche, along with the types of topics people like to see (and that you like to write of course!) on your blog. Quite simply, get jotting down 100 blog post titles that you can write over the course of the year, it’s a sure-fire way to make sure that you don’t run out of blog content.

GO BACK TO BASICS

Grab a pen and paper and really take it back to basics, write down ideas, the basis of a post – heck, even write the whole darned post in a notepad because it might just be exactly what you needed. Time away from technology.  Of the same vein, pick up a magazine from your local newsagent around your blog niche and flick through it for inspiration. Certain articles might just spark something alight to make you think “ah, I wanna put my two-penneth’s worth in on that topic” or it could ignite a totally brand new idea that you just need!

JUST ASK

If you are still struggling, the simple thing of just asking your readers or followers what they would like to see might just give you a nudge in the right direction. Sometimes you can really get inside your own head that you can’t see the wood from the tree’s so having an outsiders perspective can put a whole new, fresh approach on it. You could set up a survey monkey through a blog post, or encourage newsletter readers to reply to your emails or post a “question” in your Instagram story and wait for the ideas to flood in. Genuine readers will want to guide you with the types of things they enjoy seeing on your feed, after all, these are the people who stick around and want to consume your content!

What do you do to inspire yourself to blog?
