I Need To Replace My Entire Wardrobe, What Now?

This is a collaborative post. Image source.Image source.

You can tell a great deal about someone by how they keep their wardrobe, and what items they keep within it. For example, if you see a wardrobe filled with Hawaiian shirts, shorts, sandals, and 90’s sunglasses designs, you’re probably looking at the personal outfits of a pretty groovy guy.

Jokes aside, it’s true to say that a wardrobe tends to serve as a suite of someone’s tastes, functional accessories, and style. However, from time to time, all the work we put into curating our style and a library of outfits can come to naught.

First of all, it’s easy to decrease or fluctuate in weight, and I have found myself here after giving birth to Madeleine. I developed Gestational diabetes in pregnancy which meant a vast change in my diet led to lose a lot of weight whilst carrying her. Or, perhaps you’ve noticed that your clothes are relatively old and you need a whole new suite to update yourself. Maybe the baggage handlers at your local airport, in their infinite wisdom, have lost two of your suitcases and thus you’ve lost the main staples of your wardrobe. Thanks for that, guys.

In this post, then, we’ll discuss how to replace a wardrobe step by step, so you’ll never be left without an outfit, while also revivifying your style through this opportunity:

Measure Yourself Anew

Bodies change over time, we all put on and lose weight choices, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but the truth is that if you have experienced this what clothes you may have had in your wardrobe for a while may not have fit you as well as they did, and so now is a good time to start afresh with the body you have now, not dressing for the body you may have had five years ago.

Taking a few simple measurements can be worthwhile. Your chest size, leg inseam, waist, and even ring and wrist size for your accessories can all help. If you have old pieces that you’d like to have refitted, planning that out can be helpful, too.

This way, no matter what purchases you make, you’ll look undeniably fresh wearing it.

Pick Up The Staples

It’s always good to pick up the simple staples of your wardrobe so you always have something to rely on. A good pair of boots and sneakers, a pair of jeans or men’s jeans, a jacket and a couple shirts, a range of simple t-shirts you can put together with any outfit, and a coat can work well to begin with.

You’d be surprised how many outfits you can put together from three simple staples in each category. Moreover, some package deals can help you save money without having to lessen the quality of clothes you buy – for example, you may be able to buy two pairs of jeans for one, or for a discounted cost.

The staples help your wardrobe always remain reliable, and you can worry about the “cooler” elements or dressing for particular events later on.

Keep It Seasonal

If you’re starting from scratch, it’s good to plan your wardrobe around your seasonal needs. So, if it’s the middle of summer, you might start with buying more shorts than trousers, vests that leave your arms exposed (don’t forget to use SPF), and hats that help you see even in direct sunlight.

Then, whenever you have a particularly warm day in summer or even autumn, this kind of apparel can stay with you and remain useful. Putting together a few layers can also be helpful, this way you can add or shed those extra clothes if the weather seems to fluctuate more than you had expected.

Keeping things seasonal also helps you look more comfortably in stores for the time being, rather than trying to shop for a year-round wardrobe at a time when many stores may not be selling the full gamut of clothes. That said, in some cases you can always prepare for the opposite months, for example good winter jackets might be on sale in the depth of summer, and that can certainly help when outfitting an entire wardrobe once more.

Thrift & Find Deals

Using apps like Depop, or cheaper platforms like Amazon or eBay, you can find essential thrifty finds or deals that help you stock up quickly and simply. Not every piece of clothing in your wardrobe or drawers needs to be designer or super impressive from a craft stand-point, they may just need to be comfortable and practical.

For example, filling your drawers with underwear, pajamas, and socks can serve as the basics, and there’s no reason to spend too much money on any of those.

With this advice, you’re sure to replace your entire wardrobe in the best possible sense.
