A DIFFERENT DIRECTION

Over the last year I’ve seen an unbelievable amount of self-growth in myself that I never knew possible. I’ll state for the record, that that’s not a brag, instead it’s a humble acknowledgement of how far I’ve come over this period of time. In 2019 I started investing in myself in many ways, the first being joining The Travel Hacks online course for Bloggers and that was shortly followed by presenting a talk at the first of 2019’s YorkInstaMeet events. It was that event that gave me a taste of sharing my knowledge and passion for building my brand around the ever changing scope of social media with other local businesses. I’ve done talks before, but this one seemed to really stick in my mind for many months to come….

After a balmy (and boozy!) summer I decided that I wanted more drive, another reason to keep working hard to achieve dreams but it was so incredibly difficult to put this in to practice and I wasn’t even sure of what I wanted to do. Tthat’s where my lovely life coach Sophie entered and helped me map out my brain and the whizzing thoughts that were running round to make space for an idea I’d had bubbling away at the back of my mind. The experience of having someone external to your day to day life, just nudge you in the right direction was exactly what I needed so I decided that at the end of 2019 I was going to make sure I had solid plans to work with YorksInstaMeet in 2020!

So, with an idea formed I spoke with Caroline on the phone and through voice notes a number of times, we finally sat down in our local bar and I had a meeting with Caroline, Louise & Victoria to iron out exactly what we wanted to collaborate on over the next year (and hopefully more years to come if they’ll have me!)

Having had my travel & lifestyle blog from 2011, I’ve built my own brand from the bottom, up. You’ll have heard it time and time again, that as a blogger you are your own admin team, accounts team, marketing team, writing & proofreading team, design team, photographer, stylist and even more job titles than I care to even think about – I know first hand how hard it can be to juggle everything whilst making sure that you’re reaching the right people to interact with my business / blog / brand.

With my huge passion for sharing my insights face to face, we’ve designed a workshop (the launch is coming VERY soon!) that will kickstart a great foundation for those who have just started their own business or are feeling a little lost as the other tasks mount up! It will have a huge focus on Social Media so it’s going to be perfect for those who are looking to find their voice and style on Social Media to attract the right customer tribe and even forge collaborations with other local businesses using the art of visual storytelling.

What exactly is visual storytelling? It’s “A visual narrative (also visual storytelling) is a story told primarily through the use of visual media. The story may be told using still photography, illustration, or video, and can also be enhanced with graphics, music, voice and other audio.”

Back where it all began 🌿⁣ ⁣ Who’d have thought speaking in front of an audience of 100 people at @priory_cottages for @yorksinstameet just over a year ago would lead back to me collaborating on an exciting new venture of creative coaching with small businesses.⁣ ⁣ I’m thrilled to tell you we will be heading back to where it all began at @priory_cottages for our brand new workshop, “Curating your Brand: The art of visual Storytelling and Community”⁣ ⁣ This workshop has been designed & created to let your creative side flow and give you a solid foundation to find your style and voice on Social Media (without the stuffy environment!) ⁣ ⁣ It’s time to attract the right customer tribe through the wonderful world of visual Storytelling! After all, we do live in a world where consumers are now buying through Instagram, Pinterest and Blog more than ever! ⁣ ⁣ Not only that, we will work on new ways to explore and forge collaborations with other local businesses to create even more independent magic! (We’ve already seen some super collabs from the meet ups!) ⁣ ⁣ If you’re lucky enough to bag a ticket when they go on sale later this week, it will give you a sneak peek in to what else is to come with our e-course launch in summer 2020! Why not start the fun a little earlier?⁣ ⁣ Places will be limited so if you’re looking to book on I suggest bagging a ticket early – after all, the 100 tickets for the February meet up sold out in a week (WOWZER!)⁣ ⁣ Finally, I honestly can’t wait to share all of this with you after running my blogging business for 9 years, single handedly – there’s been a lot of learning curves and finding the right formulas. This is about you finding yours ❤️⁣ ⁣ Who is coming?⁣ ⁣ Photo: @charlotteclemiephotographer⁣ ⁣ #yorksinstameet #happyselves #dowhatyoulove #chattycaptioncommunity #findingthejoyineveryday #creativelifehappylife #creativekinfolk #creativephotography #creativecoaching #queenbeadyscommunity #yorkshirebusiness #businessinyorkshire #igersyorkshire #itsprimupnorth #thehonestlens #countrysidecollective #mistyfoggymilkymoody #shared_joy #feelfreefeed #whimsicalwonderfulwild #quietinthechaos #agentlehugforthesoul #findyourthing

In an era of Instagram, Pinterest and Blogs, it really does pay to be “seen” and having a great story to accompany it is where the magic happens! If you’re wanting to get to the heart of what makes your perfect customer tribe engage with your content (and ultimately buy your wears), it all starts with understanding them and having them at the forefront of nearly everything you do. This is something I’ve learnt when marketing my own blog!

The workshop is going to be a creative and fun day to flesh out ideas and strive towards a more consistent vision, you will get to know your own customers and audiences and have a plan of action you can take away to implement in to your day to day running of Social Media.

More info will be coming later this week, so please do sign up to my newsletter to hear more!

Leading on from that we are also creating a online, e-course that will follow in a similar vein, and, as more details emerge through our brainstorming sessions and many meetings we will be thrilled to announce more details soon.

I love this blog dearly, it’s been a constant in my life from 2011 and to say I’m notoriously bad at starting things and never sticking is a testament to myself that I have had this little corner of the web still up and running nearly 10 years later is a credit to myself (and a kick up the bum that I can actually keep things up!)

I’m not taking a back seat with this blog, because this is where my passion grew alive – I fell in love with writing about magical weekends and trips away to help you decide where to head to next, about things I love and feel passionate about and then I’ve also developed my skills in photography and editing. And not only that, this space on the web has brought so many amazing people in to my life that I’m so fortunate to have around me! If it weren’t for this blog I wouldn’t be in a position to do this and I am so thankful for it everyday.

This is a new chapter in my life, one I’m super excited to get my teeth in to. I believe that becoming a Creative Coach to help small businesses think about their brands in a non conventional, creative and fun way will bring the joy and spark in to your business that can often be lost when working for yourself. I’m ready to light the passion up for you.

I guess I never finished writing about my life coaching journey, so I suppose this is my way of bringing it full circle to say that with the help of Sophie and my own new-found attitude I got through a tough period of my life and came out the other side feeling mentally healthier, feeling I have more purpose and a brand new venture to boot!

I hope you will join me on this new journey where I take a slightly different direction going forward. Please do still stick around for my travel & lifestyle content as there’s lots of exciting campaigns I’m working on later on this year too.
