I’m just gonna put it out there. I’m brave. I’m brave for wearing this (stunner of a) dress in what felt like minus fifty million degrees. But all in the name of love! Yes, I’m talking about VDAY! That annual, yearly day of the year that gets everyone in to that “marmite” type of conversation. You either love it or you hate it. Some feel it’s one big marketing ploy (which I think research shows it was!) or you get involved and enjoy this little love fest of day. Hey, it gives me the chance to wear this LRD (that’s short for Little Red Dress FYI) for the occasion.

Either way it’s nice day to celebrate a relationship, be it with another half or a best friend. My mum would make sure every year that my sister and I had a little valentines day card with a big fat ? in it along with a DVD or cuddly toy. I mean, how cute is that? I’m all on board for sweet little gestures like this because it can really make someone’s day.

Okay yes, I feel like I am working this outfit. And yes, there is a little bit of podge to work at (I will get rid of it goddammit.) but I have been on a diet this last week and I really feel a million times better about how I look already. This bright red dress is a pretty bold look from me as normally I’m more about the beige’s and blacks but for VDAY I really felt like pulling out the stops and stepping out of my comfort zone. In fact, people have said to me before that red really is my colour.

So, are you stuck for ideas on what you should do this Valentines Day 2K16 style? Boyfriend or not here are a few ideas you can do to celebrate.

  1. Just you and the girls? Get a big pamper kit ready and have a night of spa treatments. Chip in and get hold of a foot spa (I think you can pick them up pretty cheap from places like Argos/Tesco’s), a few of those 99p face masks from Primark and grab all your nail polishes for a night of pampering. Be sure to stick on a girly rom-com film for good measure!
  2. Wanna spend it with your other half? Why not have a little “throwback Thursday” and head to the first restaurant you ever went to. It’ll be sure to send chills down your spine remembering your first date or even your first kiss. New Look have an amazing range of V-day inspired dresses to make sure you are all glammed up for the occasion!
  3. More of the outdoorsy type? Do something a little different and book yourself on to an outdoor high ropes course, like Go Ape. It’s super fun and you can help one another guide your way through this fun assault course. Afterwards grab a bite to eat from a cool diner or burger joint, you are gonna need some fuel after tackling those tree’s.
  4. Completely alone? Get yourself a Netflix account and catch up on the amazing series, documentaries and films available. Did someone say Pretty Little Liars & popcorn?
  5. Grab brunch, Valentines doesn’t have to be all formal, sometimes it’s nice to just have a nice chilled out day watching the world go by, drinking endless mimosas and reading newspapers and enjoying one anothers company. It’s priceless.
  6. Last but not least, whether you are with someone or not, send someone you a love an anonymous valentines card. It’ll brighten their day up no end! After all, it’s the thought that counts.

Where will you be spending your Valentines Day this year? Do you think you might have a go at one of the ideas above? Let me know cos I would love to hear from you.
